Many problems can be fixed quickly and effectively without being on site. Remote support allows us to see and control your computer over the internet (with your permission), which can often be the fastest and most economical option for simple computer repairs or questions.
In an attempt to provide even better remote services, we have started using new remote control software called Splashtop SOS.
Here’s how it works:
1. Download the Mobile Computer Doctor Remote Help software:
2. Once it downloads, double-click to run the program.
3. Once the program opens, it will bring up a box labeled “On Demand Support” which will include a 9-digit remote access code, which you will give to your technician over the phone. That’s it!
4. If you choose, after the remote session has completed, you can find the Mobile Computer Doctor Remote Help icon in your downloads folder and drag it to your computer desktop so you can find it easily next time you need help!
Some people have thought that clicking the icon will just magically connect you to us for help immediately, anytime day or night. That is NOT how this works. You still have to call and set an appointment time for remote help, then when your appointment time comes, a technician will call and instruct you to get the download or click the icon on your desktop, and THEN we will be magically connected over the internet!
Note, this tool only allows us access manually, you have to launch the program to let us on, WE CANNOT access your computer without you giving me permission. We do have another tool that allows US to access computers anytime, day or night, as long as it is on, but we usually only use that for small businesses that require that we work on their computers at night, after their staff has gone home.
Business Unattended Remote Support
These downloads install a small program that runs in the background on your computer and allows us anytime remote access (without the need for someone on your end to facilitate or OK the connection) your computer so long as it is powered on. We generally only use this software with business clients whose computers we need to access at a moments notice, or outside of regular business hours. We can also install this for residential customers who we work with more frequently.
